You die very quickly in Battlefield V. Too quickly for the liking of many players. DICE has some changes in mind, but the studio is taking a slow and cautious approach with those changes. You won’t see anything major on this front take effect in the next patch, but the team has taken the patch notes as an opportunity to explain what’s coming.
The developers draw a distinction between time-to-kill and time-to-death, and the perception of the latter is the point they most want to focus on. “TTK and TTD are very closely linked. We’re seeing players die too often/too quickly and get frustrated because of it. So, we’re looking at how we can improve the experience for new players and veterans alike. This may lead to a perceived slower TTK.”
Don’t expect that to mean an array of straightforward damage nerfs, though those are certainly possible. But it seems DICE is focusing on the ephemera of what makes death frustrating, including everything from netcode to how damage is presented in the interface. Whatever changes come through, the developers plan to focus extensively on community feedback before making anything permanent.
